Respect my vote!

European citizens have made a democratic choice at the European elections.
Citizens have a say over who will become the next President of the European Commission. This is what we were told before the elections. It is in line with the spirit and letter of the Lisbon Treaty. It is a fundamental democratic principle.
In your own countries, it is the people who, directly or indirectly, decide who should govern them. If you are serious about a more democratic Europe, one that is closer to the people, then this should be true for Europe, too!
Most of you supported the nomination of top candidates by the European political parties. We urge you to keep your word.
Jean-Claude Juncker, as the leader of the winning party, should be the first to attempt to find a majority in the Council and the European Parliament. The Commission President must be legitimised by the political project that electors chose. Even if this requires a coalition agreement like in many European democracies.
We ask you to stand up for European democracy! We ask you to respect our vote!
